Resistance Training - 30 Day Challenge

I know this month has already started but that doesn’t mean I can’t start a 30 challenge at any time! It’s an idea I got from another blogger I follow, Steve Pavlina where he tried out this kinda training so he could challenge his resistance around facing fears/anxieties of posting videos online.

I’m going to keep this short and sweet. Recently, I’ve been feeling frustrated with my output mostly due to letting outside circumstances (work, not enough time, not enough energy, etc) keep me from putting things out there. It’s the internal need to be “perfect” whatever that means.

It felt like I never had the right words to say or the best background for recording a video or the lighting wasn’t how I wanted it to be.

All this to say, I’m calling myself out on my bullshit. The excuses end here. There are folks out there with MUCH LESS time and energy with WAY MORE reasons to not post altogether who still make content EVERYDAY.

The fear of regret is becoming much stronger than the fear of making a mistake or being embarrassed. Feelings are temporary anyways and I have no control over how others respond to my work. My work is in creating things that have value to me and hopefully one of the 7 BILLION people on this planet (not counting aliens in the vast galaxy) that could benefit from it in some way, shape or form.

Today starts my resistance training.

Some examples of what this looks like:

  • Creating & posting a video even when I feel tired

  • Creating & posting a video while in my pjs

  • Creating & posting a video even if I don’t think I have anything important to talk about.

  • Creating & posting with less than ideal lighting

  • Creating & posting a video from outside (even if it’s raining)

The idea is to create even if things aren’t in the exact scenario that I want them to be. Underneath the hood is the fear of being seen. Though I do have so much I’d like to share even just for the sake of sharing it. I want to get to know other creatives who are willing to put themselves out there in the name of art and being in the spotlight. I know it won’t be “perfect” but I don’t think that’s a criteria of being a human. I’d also like to share more of myself so people know who I am.

We can start off this way, with a fun fact:

I’m obsessed with the color Blue Raspberry - and I love spotting this color in the real world, especially on cars. 🚙

I’ll be posting my vids on TikTok - follow me here!
